Location Reccie

For filming ideas we decided to film in Kent because it suits the conventions of a BSR, one of our group members was in Kent and took pictures of the potential locations where we could film.

The first picture that was taken was the bridge that we will be using for our opening sequence, we would be executing an attempt of suicide on the bridge. This bridge is in Abbey Wood in Kent, where we are planning to film most of our project. We chose this bridge and location because it fits our title which is isolated which is denoting our main character also who happens to be isolated from life, and the bridge also symbolizes the strength and capacity they can take which relates to our lost boy. The only problem we have with this is that they have put up a suicide gate, although the bridge extends and the gate is only over the road. The advantage in using this bridge is that it a safe location to film our scene also it is high and our fellow cast member will be taking a risk,a disadvantage is its in a public place and that  we could get in trouble.
We plan to film at Nooreens house where we will be filming most of the scenes such as the parents shouting, the attempted slitting of the wrist and also the sibling rivalry  all of these will be seen in the house and filmed there. we chose this house because it shows you the different types of social classes and also shows how even a perfect place can still have issues.
The second image is where we would start off the opening sequence we would see our lost boy walking out onto the forest he will be walking and thinking about all his down fall in his life and we would put in flash backs of his life whilst walking, reason we chose this as out location is because  we see the two different classes we see the upper class and high London by seeing the Gherkin and we can over see the richer and higher end of London, we think that we can establish the theme of class by using the location, we then get the buildings that are rundown and the estate flats which show the working class/lower class.
The advantages in this is that we see the high parts of Britain where we see Canary Wolf  in the background and we also see the working economic class to it, the disadvantages is that it wont come out clear when filming.
Over here we have a long shot of the bridge we chose this as our location so we would see our lost boy going up the stairs to the bridge we then see him there on the bridge we chose this because this looks like a normal location where nothing will go wrong it also adds to  the realism by using a location that is normal and not somewhere that is high class.
We chose this location because we will be  using a forest in the beginning of the opening sequence we see our lost boy walking on, we chose this because its and isolated place which will denote the title of the film which is called 'Isolated' and this will match with our lost boy as he has been isolated out of society and his own family. We also chose this location because we get to see the rough edges of the location we see how it is different from other parts of London.

We also plan to film in our school. This will be for one of the flashback scenes and it will be of the student shouting at the teacher. This location will again just remind the audience of the themes. We're also going to film in a house, either Brandon's or Nooreen's.The advantages in filming in our school is that its not to far from us and we can all make it if we had to re film anything last minute the disadvantages is that the school is closed on the weekend and we have to make sure that the character we need is in school that day.

Production Log 10

This week in media studies we had to create a questionnaire to our target audience and ask them what they think of our idea for our project we also asked what they thought about British Social Realisms
these were the question we asked:
1) Have you seen any of these films?

- Ill Manors
- Kidult Hood
- Adult Hood
- Anuvahood
- Trainspotting
- Fish Tank
- Bend It Like Beckham
- Bullet Boy
- The Full Monty

All of these films come under a genre called "British Social Realism" which is about mundane, everyday life.

2)  What do you like most about these types of films?

Our Idea:
We are creating the opening sequence to a British Social Realism film about a young Asian student, who is put under lots of pressure by his parents to do better in school even though he is already trying his hardest. This then leads to him spiraling into depression which then results to him attempting to commit suicide.

3) When watching a film like this, which of these apply to you the most and why? (choose two)
Entertainment - Watching it because you like it
Social Interaction - Watching it because you like talking to your friends about it
Identity - Watching it because you feel as if you can relate to it
Education - Watching it because you feel you are learning from it
4) Do you like our idea for our film?
5) What types of music would you like to see in thee types of films? What are your opinions on these genres?
6) Can you quickly create an idea for a British Social Realism film?
We then did a Vox pop video, we asked a bunch of strangers the following questions and we taped there answers :
We then went to a BFI south banks and we learned about TV dramas, in this trip we learned about  the type of questions that may occur in our exams and the representation of characters established in a UK and US drama, such as ethnicity, youth, gender, age, class and status, regional identity and sexuality we also learned how these are used in actual work.

We also looked at A.G.I.L.E this was used to determine the type of character we would create we looked at how produces and script writers use this in an actual piece of work, we got to take a look at an episode of Holby City in here we looked at how the story reveals the past secrets and also we see a terrible accident that takes place what we learnt about this was how much time and planning goes into it and also looked at the social class and physical ability when taking a look at other British Dramas this was to show us how it is done and what happens behind the screen.
